“Much of my work exists as narratives relating to an exploration of identity and emotionality. For ZOOM, I decided to focus on an ambiguous narrative of sexuality and violence, leaving much of the story out of frame to maximize individual elements and minimize the information available to construct a more wholesome story. By zooming in on the details, the imagination needed to find a linear relationship between what is happening in the image and in the greater story increases, leaving the spectator to do more of the mental work to deconstruct what is being transmitted.”
